Posterous, from YC S08, will shut down on April 30. The team behind the popular “share anything” blogging platform was acqui-hired by Twitter in March 2012. If you use Posterous and have waited until the last minute to move your blogs, you still have some options. Those options include Weebly and Posthaven.
Weebly, from YC W07, is a solid choice for blog hosting. Named one of TIME’s 50 Best Websites, Weebly enables “over 12 million people to easily create personal sites and blogs or establish web presences for businesses, weddings, classrooms, churches, artistic portfolios, and more.” Weebly has a lot of features, including a drag & drop website builder, image editor, form builder, and detailed traffic stats. Weebly also has over 100+ pre-made themes and a thorough support site. TechCrunch recently featured a video tour of Weebly’s San Francisco offices.
Posthaven is another choice for migrating from Posterous. Posthaven was founded by Garry Tan, previously a Posterous co-founder. According to its site, Posthaven “has a 100% perfect importer for your Posterous blogs.” For $5/month, Posthaven offers durable URLs forever, no ads, and a pledge to never be acquired.
So Posterous users got one last week to move their blogs. Weebly and Posthaven are both good options for your blog-hosting needs.
