airbnbAirbnb could soon be a billion dollar a year business, explains Business Insider.  Every time I get ready to write about Airbnb they have more news.  This past November, Airbnb announced Airbnb Neighborhoods and also Local Lounges.  In December, Airbnb acquired Localmind, a popular local question and answer app that’s been described as “like Quora and Foursquare got together and had a baby.”  Airbnb also significantly upgraded its iOS app: adding reviews, a calendar for hosts, and supporting 18 more languages (bringing the total to more than 30).  In January, Colleen Taylor at TechCrunch hosted an awesome video tour of Airbnb’s new headquarters.  And this month,  Airbnb is the Forbes cover story and also hired Facebook’s Mike Curtis as its V.P. of Engineering.

Airbnb recently released it’s annual report (“Global Growth, Local Love”).  Since 2008, Airbnb has booked over 10 million nights across 33,000 cities in 192 countries.  Airbnb now has over 300,000 total listings, which includes 200 treehouses and 500 castles.
